This admissions desk for the Chicago Academy of Sciences was designed circa 2000.  It was inspired by vertebrae, butterfly wings, cubist paintings and the Finnish architect Reima Pietilä.

Pergolas designed for the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven, an immersive garden habitat at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago (2001).  Like the butterflies, these structures hover over the garden walk - not touching the ground, but suspended by stainless steel cables from the structural enclosure above.

Interior and furniture design for Rookwood Pottery Company showroom (2009).  The serpentine table is a modular design that can be reconfigured into a variety of curvilinear forms.  It was fabricated by carpenter Mike Graf.

A Formula for Chance

This ceramic tile mural was executed in 2013.  It is made up of more than forty hand-sculpted tiles and measures approximately seven feet in length.

Designed in 2012 for Cincinnati's Western & Southern Tennis Tournament, recipients of the trophy have included Roger Federer (2012) and Rafael Nadal (2013).

Second of two stainless steel sculptural gazebos at Longwood Gardens, created in conjunction with the exhibition "Making Scents" (2010).  The structure is filled and surrounded with fragrant plants.

The heart of the "Making Scents" Exhibition was this display area in the Music Room at Longwood Gardens (2010).  The illuminated pavilion in the center contained display cases housing hundreds of perfume bottles (see previous images).

One of six ceramic mosaics for the bistro Local 127 in Cincinnati (2009). I worked closely with the team of artists at Rookwood Pottery - including Allan Nairn, Terri Kern, and Marsha Williams - to execute these designs, with their multitude of glaze colors, heavy grout, and hand-pressed custom shapes.

These 3" x 6" ceramic number tiles have an updated Arts and Crafts style.  They can be framed or mounted into a tile wall installation.  The numbers are available in a variety of glaze options through the Rookwood Pottery (rookwood.com).
